Becoming a Digital Nomad

Making Money as a Digital Nomad

Making Money as a Digital Nomad

So it’s been a long while since I’ve posted anything and that’s simply because I’ve been busy with many other things and the truth is that there isn’t much of a readership – nor has there ever been one on my blog.  I shouldn’t find that surprising as I’ve made very little effort to keep this thing going – but it’s still here. I’ve not had the guts to cancel this or just let the stupid thing go but I’m thinking maybe I should keep it for a bit longer.

Not much has happened, but everything’s changed – I know that doesn’t sound right – it’s kind of an oxymoron to say but it’s true.  I’m still struggling with writing, finding a direction, and even doing things that I know will make money but that is slowly changing.  I’ve transitioned into a job that allows me to work from home and I find I’m doing more and more overtime because it’s easy to do an 8 hour shift when I’m watching videos and reading between doing laundry and making smoothies.

The OT will help pay off my debt and avoid getting into further debt because I’ve got some big bills coming.  This is the main focus now, but once out of debt I’ll have to think about the next “phase” of my life I am no longer a parent of a dependent child and this opens up a new opportunity to travel.

This has me thinking and I’ve really started to put in some work into figuring out how I can make a living while traveling in an RV or van or even doing the Round the World thing.  I’ve begun to keep a log of all the things I want to do and this will hopefully help me decide how to get to where I want to be.

I’ve been researching passive incomes and ways that other Digital Nomads and Others make money and there are so many different ways that it boggles the mind. I decided to keep a list of things that might work for me in a list below and thought I’d share them in the event they inspire you to think about going mobile:

Ideas for Making Money as a Digital Nomad

Workcamping – obviously this is for the RV lifestyle

Online Books – both fiction and non-fiction

Publishing Services – I can do some of this but would likely freelance some of the work to others

  1. Digital Services
  2. Book Cover Creation
  3. Print book conversions
  4. Create author websites
  5. Create Book Apps  (Semi-Passive) Create PLR for sale (this still works today but I’ve got to build on it) – use this to sell digital products (Passive) – use this to create digital courses online  (Passive)

Affiliate programs?

Freelance sites like Odesk, Elance, Fivver

Etsy Shop?  What would I sell and if it isn’t digital then how to I store this to get the product to customers

These are just some of the ways I can make money on the road when I turn myself into a digital nomad.  I’ve still got a long way to go, but the writing is something I need to build on and these other options are definite possibilities.

Let me know what you think and tell me if you have any other ideas.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
