How Pinteresting

So those of you that know me, (hi mom!) know that I’m all about Pinterest.  I’m hooked and the desire to pin is just under my fingertips, but I’m learning that this Pinterest stuff can do some good for both me and fellow writers.

In the last few weeks I changed a few of my boards to Group Boards and have begun inviting other authors and book lovers to join and the results have been really good.  By breaking down a few genres, I have been able to grow the amount of followers to a decent number.  This got me excited because now I could help other writers showcase their work.

Generally I do a Tuesday book call in which I ask my social media people if they have a book for free or if they want to have a pin placed on a board in the genre they write.  This has helped others get some exposure and I’ve been told it has helped sales.  That is awesome.  I know for myself that a few of my books have also sold because of these pins and I’m hoping to be able to use these types of pins to get some much needed exposure…of course it might help if I actually got off my butt and finished editing all the stories I have on the computer.

Now that I’ve finally settled into my new location (I hate moving), I’m going to spend the next few months working on getting my writing and editing finished and I’m hoping that using Pinterest will ultimately garner me some more eyeballs on my products.

Since you’re here…why not check out a few of my offerings:

  1. I’m a little scared to get into it because I already spend so much time browsing Etsy…but the idea is fabulous and maybe I’ll come around some day. It never hurts to be in front of as many eyeballs as possible!

    • Hi Jill, believe me I feel your pain. I spend a lot of time online and I’m trying to streamline everything, but Pinterest is a really great tool to use as a writer. Before Pinterest I had favorites, folders, files and a bunch of saved emails that I would email to myself. When I got on Pinterest that all changed. I use it as a pin board – literally. There are ideas and things I want to investigate later so I put those in boards by category and because Pinterest allows you 3 secret boards as well – I take my future writing ideas and put those pins away for later use.

If you do decide to get on Pinterest then look me up and even if you don’t, I’d be happy to pin some of your work to the appropriate boards – all I need is a link and I can use the little app to create a pin and get some of those eyeballs on you. 🙂
