It’s a New Day, It’s a New Dawn

“It’s a New Day, it’s a New Dawn”…I love that Nina Simon song and Michael Buble does a pretty good rendition of it.  It’s appropriate about how I feel.  Truth is – this song was one that I shared with someone I thought was special, but it wasn’t meant to last.  That doesn’t mean the song has any less inspiration for me.

I think this is a lesson that most people don’t get.  I’m not going to stop liking the song because there was a moment or two in my life in which I shared the lyrics.  It is a song I loved long before he existed and it’s a song I will love to the day I die.  Sometimes people get so wrapped up in a moment of time that they fail to realize the moment has passed and that’s something I don’t want to keep doing myself.

As my good friend M-girl always “says’ – “Move Past It.”  And there is wisdom in that simple statement (just don’t tell her I said she was any kind of wise!)  Learning to step out of the moment and look at the world turning around you is important.  It’s a deathtrap for artists, and business types alike to stay in the same moment and forget there is an universe of opportunity.

Today we sit at a time in history that no human has ever experienced.  It literally is a New Day, It’s a New Dawn in all that we can achieve and the things we can do; and as a conscious being on this planet you need to wake up and be amazed!  What if you took just one more step when you thought you could not?  What if you got up just 15 minutes earlier to have a better breakfast?  What if you just read one more page?  What if you gave your Dreams just one more try?

These are the kinds of questions you should ask yourself.  Who cares if no one believes in you or supports you?  Who cares if you’ve failed 99 times?  You still have a chance to do it again and maybe this time it will work.  If you don’t try, you will never know…and this is why I am the way I am.  I know failure is a reality, but so is success in whatever I decide to put my heart into.

I can look back at my failures and be thankful they are in my past but it’s the future I’m excited about because I know it is a chance to do something new, or learn something cool, or write something that speaks to someone.  When I deviate from the path of things I love to do, it becomes a struggle and that is a sure sign I’m doing something wrong; but if I didn’t at least try then I would never have known that about myself.

I live life like everyone else; one breath at a time, but I’ll be damned if I do it in any way that isn’t “me.”  I will take my struggles and build upon them to make a solid foundation into a future that is still so amazing and exciting, maybe not so much because of what I’m doing today…but because of what I’m capable of creating tomorrow.

I know I’m not doing my best right now, but I’m doing a hellova lot better than someone who won’t even try.  Don’t over-think the chance to create the life you want, just start doing it.

It’s a New Day, It’s a New Dawn…what will you do with this most amazing opportunity?
